Tweed Ride History Tour 2020

We look forward to the International Annual Tweed Ride all year.

From Tokyo to London to New York, DC, to Dallas – cyclists dress in tweed wool jackets and suits and their favorite historic garb to bike through the city, picnic, party and celebrate together.

This year is different and because of that we’re NOT encouraging gathering a big group ride… BUT we all still need good reasons to dress up and be out in the beautiful fall weather biking around with a few close friends!

This year’s self-guided history tour will take you and your friends to the most famous historic sites in North Oak Cliff, like the original 7-eleven, the Mayor’s House, the Texas Theatre where Lee Harvey Oswald was finally captured after shooting JFK and Officer Tippet, and the cemetery where Clyde Barrow lies.

Wondering what to wear? You can check out some of our friends‘ photos from previous rides for ideas – hopefully it’ll be perfectly chilly! Tweed is a wool fabric usually with a twill, plain, or herringbone pattern to the weave. While most Tweed Runs are held in November it’s alway been too warm in Dallas for wool in November!

This year, we’re listing our favorite historic sites in Oak Cliff and recommending two routes** (a shorter 8.5mile loop, and a longer 22mile loop)** taking you to the best bike lanes, bike paths, and neighborhood back-road routes.

For a special Bike Friendly Oak Cliff souvenir, pop into AJ Vagabonds in the Bishop Arts District, to purchase a BFOC pint glass for $20 and then stop by Eno’s or the Oak Cliff Brewery at Tyler Station for your free drink!
